Bring Large Dung Pods

Hirabami presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Unlike many monsters that roam solo, Hirabami prefers to stay in groups, making the battle more complex. To manage this, bring Large Dung Pods to the fight. These will help you scatter the monsters, allowing you to tackle them one at a time more effectively.

Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo

One of the trickier aspects of facing Hirabami is their tendency to float in the air. If you're using a ranged weapon like a Bow, this won't be an issue. However, melee weapon users might find the fight frustrating. To bring them down, use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo, which can be fired from your Slinger. If you're out of ammo, try severing Hirabami's tail, as it will drop a Tail Claw Shard that transforms into Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo.

Utilize Environmental Traps

The Hirabami's arena in Iceshard Cliffs features environmental traps that can turn the tide of battle. You'll encounter three types: Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Dropping one of these on Hirabami can stun and damage the monster, providing a strategic advantage.

Aim for the Head

The most effective target on Hirabami is its head, though reaching it can be challenging due to their airborne nature. Ranged weapon users will have an easier time targeting the head, while melee users should focus on the neck when the creature descends. Attacking the torso is less effective due to its high defense.

Watch the Tail

Hirabami's unpredictable movements can make it a challenging opponent. It frequently attempts to bite or spit at you and may also perform a high-altitude dive attack. These moves are dodgeable if you keep an eye on the monster's head. Stay mobile when it focuses on you, but be cautious of its tail, which it uses like a hammer to smash you.

How to Capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds

To capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds, you must reduce its health to 20 percent or lower. You'll know you've reached this threshold when a skull icon appears next to the monster icon on the mini-map. At this point, quickly set up a trap, such as a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap.

Once the monster is trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer to knock it unconscious. You only have a brief window before the creature escapes, so act fast. Successfully capturing Hirabami will end the fight and grant you standard rewards, though it reduces your chance of obtaining additional materials from striking its weak spots.

That's all you need to know about defeating and capturing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Remember to bring Large Dung Pods or use the SOS feature to ease the battle.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
