MiHoYo, the Chinese developer behind HoYoVerse, is making waves with its upcoming project. Initially known as Astaweave Haven, this game has been rebranded as Petit Planet, even before a full reveal. Let's hope these changes are positive!
For those unfamiliar, Astaweave Haven (now Petit Planet) was generating buzz amongst gacha and RPG fans. While official details remain scarce, it appears to differ significantly from HoYoVerse's usual open-world gacha titles.
Instead of another open-world gacha adventure, Petit Planet seems poised to be a life-simulation or management game, reminiscent of Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley. This explains the name change; "Petit Planet" has a much more fitting, charming tone for this genre.
The name change is a welcome surprise. "Petit Planet" is undeniably more appealing and strongly suggests a management sim, a refreshing departure from MiHoYo's typical offerings.
Release Date?
The game is still under development, lacking concrete release details. Astaweave Haven received Chinese approval for PC and mobile in July. The rebranded Petit Planet was registered in October, and now awaits US and UK approval.
Given MiHoYo's rapid release schedule (consider the quick succession of Zenless Zone Zero after Honkai: Star Rail), we anticipate a swift launch following name approval. We eagerly await a proper look at Petit Planet.
