Minecraft Java Snapshot updates are always highly anticipated, offering glimpses into future game additions. Snapshot 25w06a introduces three chicken variants, adding a collectible element to the game. This guide details their locations and breeding.
Locating Minecraft's Chicken Variants
Warm Chickens: These yellow and orange-feathered birds inhabit warmer biomes. Look for them in:
- Badlands
- Bamboo Jungle
- Eroded Badlands

- Savanna
- Savanna Plateau
- Sparse Jungle
- Windswept Savanna
- Wooded Badlands
Cold Chickens: Sporting blue feathers, these chickens are found exclusively in cold biomes:
- Old Growth Pine Taiga
- Old Growth Spruce Taiga
- Snowy Taiga
- Taiga
- Windswept Forest
- Windswept Gravelly Hills
- Windswept Hills
Temperate Chickens: These are the classic white chickens, now officially named "Temperate Chickens," and reside in all biomes not categorized as warm or cold.
Taming and Breeding Chickens
To collect these feathered friends, use seeds to lure them. Chickens don't traditionally "tame," but seeds encourage them to follow, allowing you to guide them into enclosures. Remember to establish checkpoints for longer collection journeys, especially in Survival mode.
Breeding involves feeding seeds to two chickens. Breeding two of the same variant produces an egg that hatches the same type. Breeding two different variants results in a randomly generated chicken variant.
