Mission: Impossible returns, reportedly for the final time. However, considering Tom Cruise has expressed his desire to continue acting into his hundreds, and the Oscars just introduced a stunt category—though this film misses eligibility—it would be more surprising if The Final Reckoning truly marks the end.
Even so, a potential conclusion warrants proper celebration, especially for one of cinema's greatest action franchises, led by a star whose well-documented passion for the big screen is absolutely justified.
In this sequel to 2023’s Dead Reckoning, IGN's review notes that Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is again risking "life and limb and the fate of millions, this time in a quest to stop The Entity." Prepare for an array of stunts, mostly performed by Cruise, alongside numerous callbacks to earlier films.

IMAX
Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning will have a three-week IMAX run, replacing Thunderbolts*. IMAX offers more than just a larger screen—it typically provides the highest quality theater experience, with 4K laser projection and a six-channel surround sound system.
The film was specifically shot with IMAX in mind, using IMAX-certified digital cameras (a combination of Arri Alexa Mini LF, Sony CineAlta Venice, and Sony CineAlta Venice Rialto). IMAX confirms the movie includes "over 45 minutes of IMAX's exclusive 1.90:1 expanded aspect ratio." If IMAX is accessible, it’s the recommended priority.
