Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a new character customization feature allowing hunters and Palicos to receive aesthetic overhauls. While the initial edit is free, subsequent changes require purchasing Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers are sold in packs of three for $6, or a combined pack for both hunter and Palico for $10. Without vouchers, players are limited to hairstyles, eyebrow color, makeup, and clothing adjustments; core facial features remain locked.

This monetization model, unannounced prior to launch, was revealed last week through Capcom's social media. Despite controversy surrounding this and reported performance issues, Monster Hunter Wilds achieved record-breaking success, boasting over 1.3 million concurrent Steam players at launch.
Capcom has yet to respond to player concerns. The community expresses significant dissatisfaction with the paid customization, contrasting it unfavorably with previous titles where such changes were free or earned via in-game currency. Many feel this monetization undermines a core aspect of the franchise.
