How to Unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
While fishing might not be central to the main storyline, it offers a delightful diversion and its own questline. Engaging with this will eventually equip you with the necessary tools to pursue this prestigious trophy and achievement.
To begin, players need to dive into Kanya’s fishing questline. This involves completing several side quests to gather specific items for her:
- Seeking the Goldenfish: Find and catch the Goldenfish in cave water pools. Head to the Scarlet Forest in Area 6, using either the Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow baits. The fish has the highest chance of spawning during the Fallow weather state.
Fishing for Favor: Next, you'll need to catch the Gravid Bowfin. Visit the Scarlet Forest base camp under the Plenty weather condition. Equip the Emerald Jitterbait and cast your line to snag this fish.
The Catch of a Lifetime!: Kanya will then ask you to catch a Whopper, any large fish that requires the reeling minigame. The Tuna is a popular choice for this quest. Go to the Scarlet Forest, specifically the lake in Area 17, and patiently reel in a big catch. 
After completing these quests, Kanya will introduce the Razzle Dazzle quest, your gateway to the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds. Here’s how to proceed:
- Travel to the Scarlet Forest, specifically to Area 17. The weather must be Downpour in Inclemency. You can wait by the grill or rest at your camp to change the weather conditions.
- Walk into the deep end of the lake until you can't go further. Look for squids swimming around. If they don’t appear, fast travel to another location and back to see if they spawn.
- Use the Tentacle Jig provided by Kanya to start fishing. While the quest requires you to catch the Grand Escunite, your actual target for the trophy and achievement is the Goliath Squid. Look for squids with glowing blue shells.
- If you hook a squid and the reeling minigame starts, you're on the right path. Keep fighting the creature, reeling it in when it tires. Once it's close to the shore, pull it out to secure it and unlock the trophy or achievement.
