Indie studio We Are Muesli has unveiled an exciting new narrative game titled "In Their Shoes," slated for release in 2026 across both mobile and PC platforms. This game has already garnered attention, earning a nomination for the prestigious independent and arthouse games awards ‘A MAZE. 2025’ in Berlin.
In Their Shoes: A Narrative Game That Emphasizes Listening
Set in the vibrant and contradictory city of Milan, "In Their Shoes" invites players to immerse themselves in the lives of seven distinct characters through 49 interactive short stories, known as Moments. Each Moment offers a unique window into a character's daily experiences, capturing their hesitations, routines, and the split-second decisions that shape their lives.
The gameplay varies in pace; some Moments allow you to linger in a character’s thoughts, while others demand quick reactions, reflecting the spontaneity of real life. Unlike typical narrative games, "In Their Shoes" presents a narrative that's intentionally untidy. As players navigate through the fragmented stories, they can uncover 26 hidden biographical details for each character, offering a rich slice-of-life experience.
