Player First Games has announced the upcoming closure of its platform fighter, MultiVersus, ending its run on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. Season 5, launching February 4th, will be the game's final season.
The studio detailed the discontinuation of support in a blog post. While online play will cease on May 30th, offline access to all acquired content (both earned and purchased) will remain available through local and training modes.
The MultiVersus team expressed gratitude to players and supporters in a statement, highlighting the dedication poured into the game.

Real-money transactions have been halted, but Gleamium and character tokens can still be used to acquire in-game content until the May 30th shutdown. The game will also be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store at that time.
MultiVersus' closure follows reports of its underperformance for Warner Bros. Discovery, resulting in a significant $100 million writedown, contributing to a larger $300 million total games sector writedown. This financial setback, alongside the underperformance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, contributed to the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad.
Despite the shutdown, Season 5 will introduce new content, including playable characters Lola Bunny (unlockable via daily calendar rewards) and Aquaman (available through the battle pass). This final season promises a fitting send-off for the free-to-play title, just days before its first anniversary.
