Neil Druckmann: No Bet on The Last of Us Part 3

If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3 video game, you might want to brace yourself for some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the mastermind behind the series, has recently poured cold water on any hopes of a third installment being in development—or even on the horizon.

In a detailed interview with Variety, primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann was asked about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*. His response was notably discouraging:

“I was waiting for this question,” he said, sighing. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

While Druckmann's words may seem final, skepticism about their definitiveness remains. Naughty Dog is currently channeling its efforts into *Intergalactic*, a project announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, *Intergalactic* suggests that Naughty Dog's focus is firmly elsewhere, making an immediate return to *The Last of Us* unlikely. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or he might genuinely be closing the chapter on this beloved series. Only time will tell.

However, if you're still hungry for more of *The Last of Us*, the television adaptation offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about how many seasons it will take to fully adapt the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive hinted in February that four seasons might be the perfect number to wrap everything up.
