The streaming giant has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay. Although Derek Kolstad, who had been involved in adapting Sifu's story, might still be part of the project, his exact role remains uncertain at this point.
The production team is further bolstered by the addition of Chad Stahelski, the visionary director behind the John Wick series, and his company 87Eleven Entertainment, who will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is concurrently working on another major video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, showcasing his prowess in bringing gaming worlds to life on screen.
Sifu, released in 2022, quickly captured the gaming world's attention, selling over one million copies in just three weeks. The game centers around a young martial artist on a quest for revenge following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them after death but ages them significantly, the protagonist navigates a perilous path filled with danger and intrigue.
