Nintendo's Latest LEGO Collaboration: A Game Boy!
Get ready for a blast from the past! Nintendo has just announced a new collaboration with LEGO, and this time, it's a LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES set.
The announcement, made on X (formerly Twitter), has sparked a flurry of excitement and, understandably, some questions about the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Many users jokingly interpreted the news as a substitute for the Switch 2 reveal, with comments like, "Thanks for finally revealing the new console," and "At this rate, a LEGO Switch 2 will be out before the real thing!"
While Nintendo remains tight-lipped about the Switch 2, President Furukawa's May 7, 2024 statement promising an announcement "within this fiscal year" (ending March) keeps hopes alive. For now, the focus is on the LEGO Game Boy.
Pricing details for the LEGO Game Boy are yet to be revealed, but Nintendo promises more information in the coming weeks and months.
Past LEGO & Nintendo Successes
This isn't Nintendo's first foray into the LEGO world. Previous collaborations have brought iconic characters from beloved franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda to life in brick form.
Last May 2024 saw the release of a stunning 2,500-piece LEGO set featuring the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. This impressive set, priced at $299.99 USD, includes Princess Zelda and the Master Sword.
Following closely in June 2024, a Super Mario World LEGO set debuted, showcasing a unique depiction of Mario riding Yoshi in pixel art style. A rotating crank brings Yoshi's leg to life. This set is available for $129.99 USD.
The LEGO Game Boy promises to be another exciting addition to this successful partnership. Stay tuned for further updates!
