The long-awaited details of the Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. The new console supports up to 120fps and can achieve 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant upgrade over its predecessor.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to the original Switch, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. With double the pixel count, it supports a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD with HDR support, and when docked, it can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR.The Joy-Con 2 controllers now connect via magnets and can be detached using a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing gameplay in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks have been upsized for better control. This segment also officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld mode of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio capabilities for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand than the original Switch, allowing for different viewing heights. Additionally, there's a top USB port that supports external camera connectivity and can charge the system while in tabletop mode.
Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage.
