Charging your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is set to become a much quicker affair compared to its predecessor. According to Nintendo Life, the newly announced $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller will fully charge in approximately three and a half hours when using either the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. This represents a significant improvement over the original Pro Controller, which takes around six hours to charge fully.
Despite the faster charging time, the Switch 2 Pro Controller retains the same impressive battery life of approximately 40 hours of gameplay per charge. Additionally, the updated controller introduces several new features, including a redesigned C button, two extra GL/GR buttons on the underside, and a slightly more compact and lightweight design compared to the original.
For those who prefer to stick with their current controllers, rest assured that the original Pro Controller remains compatible with the new console system.
Nintendo made this announcement during a recent 60-minute Nintendo Direct. Pre-orders were initially scheduled for early April in the U.S., but due to tariff concerns, the launch was postponed until April 24. Although the price of the Switch 2 console remains unchanged at $449.99, most accessories saw price increases, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
