Nintendo has unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, an innovative digital game set to launch alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This game isn't a complimentary pack-in, but a separate, purchasable digital title available on the Nintendo eShop from the console's launch day.
During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Welcome Tour was introduced as a "virtual exhibition" designed to familiarize players with the new hardware through tech demos, minigames, and interactive elements. The game features a player avatar navigating a giant-sized Switch 2, exploring its features and learning about its capabilities in a museum-like environment. The tour includes engaging minigames such as Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo, providing both educational and entertaining experiences.
Nintendo confirmed in their stream and press release that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the launch day of the Nintendo Switch 2. While this tool is intriguing for fans eager to explore the new console's capabilities, many have expressed curiosity about why it is a paid digital-only game rather than a free inclusion with the console. The price has not yet been disclosed.
In addition to the Welcome Tour, the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch with titles like Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. These games will compete for the attention and budgets of gamers on launch day.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025, with a price of $449.99 USD, or $499.99 for the bundle that includes Mario Kart World.
