If we had to pick the most striking and memorable trailer from the recent State of Play, the top spot undoubtedly goes to the new installment in the Onimusha series: Onimusha: Way of the Sword. This game introduces us to its protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi, whose character model is strikingly based on the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune. The trailer showcases Musashi fearlessly battling demons that have surged from the depths of hell into the historic city of Kyoto. There's a humorous twist as well, with Musashi occasionally attempting to evade these otherworldly foes.
The narrative reveals that Musashi, empowered by his faith, becomes the bearer of the Oni Gauntlet. His mission is to combat the monsters that have invaded the realm of the living, absorbing their souls to not only restore his health but also to unleash powerful special abilities.
In addition to Onimusha: Way of the Sword, we were treated to a trailer for the Onimusha 2 remaster. The side-by-side comparison of these trailers vividly illustrates the leaps and bounds in graphical advancements over the years, showcasing the evolution of video game visuals and technology.
