Capcom unveiled new gameplay footage of its upcoming action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The trailer, showcased at the PlayStation State of Play, revealed the game's protagonist: the legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi.

Miyamoto Musashi, renowned for his unparalleled swordsmanship, takes center stage. The trailer also showcases his playful and mischievous personality, adding a unique dimension to his iconic image.Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on Toshiro Mifune, the legendary Japanese actor who famously portrayed Musashi in several samurai films.
The game's setting is Kyoto, besieged by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning demonic entities from the underworld. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To bridge the gap and excite fans, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
