Author : Chloe Mar 28,2025

Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with anticipation about the mysteries it might unravel. However, at the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN uncovered that one mystery the DLC won't solve is the base game's surprising final cutscene. For those yet to complete Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free hint: the concluding cutscene hints at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe. This twist has sparked considerable speculation among fans about its implications and possible explanations in the DLC. Yet, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has confirmed that this cutscene isn't tied to the Overture DLC. He teased, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

Neowiz has already confirmed a sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the mysterious cutscene might instead be connected to Lies of P 2. Details on the sequel remain scarce, as Choi was tight-lipped during our conversation. He stated, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The cutscene in question, known as the Dorothy scene, features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning he will "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting that the next installment in the Lies of P series might intertwine with other public domain "fairy tales." However, how or why this happens remains a mystery, and we now know it won't be addressed in Overture.

Despite the lack of clarity on the final cutscene, Choi did drop some hints about what to expect from the Overture DLC. He encourages fans to replay the base game, noting, "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience. A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion." He also mentioned that some fans are already piecing together the puzzle, as he regularly reads fan theories online, some of which "are quite close."

Choi further revealed that the Overture DLC should take approximately 15-20 hours to complete for experienced players and will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter in the game, extending all the way to the end. As previously announced, the DLC serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can expect new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the details under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
