Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their massively popular monster-catching game, Palworld. They've announced a new addition to their universe: Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim that promises to add a romantic twist to the Palworld experience. Announced on March 31, this isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing raising some eyebrows among fans who are used to seeing game developers pull off fake announcements around this time of year.
Pocketpair is keen to dispel any doubts: Palworld! More Than Just Pals is a genuine project. Initially conceived as an April Fools' Day jest in 2024, the overwhelming response has turned it into a real game, slated for release on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.This dating sim takes place at Palagos Private Academy, where players enroll as a transfer student. The game allows you to befriend and potentially fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, who are drawn from Palworld's existing roster of creatures. According to Pocketpair, "You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."

Palworld itself is going strong, having celebrated its one-year anniversary in January. The game continues to evolve with regular updates, the latest of which introduced crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, photo mode, and other enhancements. While fans await the dating sim, they have plenty of new content to enjoy. There's also a glimmer of hope for those wishing for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld, though even if that doesn't materialize, there's anticipation that Palworld! More Than Just Pals might make its way to the console in the future.
