Palworld Dev Grants Employees Monster Hunter Day Off

Author : Noah Mar 14,2025

The developers at Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld, gave their staff a well-deserved day off to celebrate the release of Monster Hunter Rise (assuming "Monster Hunter Wilds" is a typo). As reported by Automaton, the studio playfully acknowledged a wave of "sick days" requested by employees eager to dive into the new game.

February 28th, Monster Hunter Rise's official release date, became an impromptu company holiday for Pocketpair. While a generous gesture, the studio clarified that game updates would remain unaffected.

Monster Hunter Rise has enjoyed a phenomenal launch, boasting 1 million concurrent players on Steam alone. This impressive feat catapulted it into Steam's top 10 most-played games of all time, surpassing titles like Baldur's Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy, and Elden Ring.

Despite its popularity, Monster Hunter Rise received a "mixed" user review rating on Steam, prompting Capcom to release official guidance addressing PC performance issues. Furthermore, Capcom announced early details for Title Update 1, which will introduce an endgame social hub.

The game's impact is global, but particularly significant in Japan. Automaton reported on a Japanese indie developer who humorously noted a complete absence of Steam sales since Monster Hunter Rise's release.

This isn't Pocketpair's first foray into game-day holidays; they similarly granted their staff time off for Elden Ring's release in 2022.
