Path of Exile 2's Atlas map features four major endgame events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, drawing inspiration from the original Path of Exile's Ritual League, are a revived seasonal mechanic. This guide details how to initiate Ritual events, their mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (The King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.
PoE 2 Rituals & Altars Explained

On the Atlas, map nodes guaranteeing endgame events are marked with specific icons. Ritual Altar nodes display a red pentagram with a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.
Entering a map with a Ritual spawns several Altars. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting the event's mechanics and enemies. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms, or life-draining pools of blood.
Examine an Altar's modifiers before interacting. Activating an Altar unleashes a large enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; leaving it ends the event without rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.
Ritual Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists
Among the randomized Ritual rewards, 'An Audience With The King' grants access to The Crux Of Nothingness, home to the King in the Mists. Place this currency item in your Realmgate on the Atlas to initiate the fight. The King in the Mists' mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart (found in Act 1, Cruel difficulty, Freythorn zone for practice). Victory yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 Uniques, powerful Currencies, and Omen items.
Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessed via the Atlas map's top-left button (bottom right of the Atlas tree), enhances Ritual rewards. It features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists awards 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.
| Notable Delirium Passive | Effect | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Promised Devotion | Ritual Altar skills deal 25% increased Damage. Deferring Favours at Ritual Altars requires 50% less Tribute, and they appear 50% sooner | N/A |
| From The Mists | Rituals contain 2 extra packs of enemies | N/A |
| Reinvigorated Sacrifices | Every time a monster Revives in a Ritual it gains 20% Toughness and deals 10% more damage. Revived monsters no longer penalize Tribute. | From The Mists |
| Spreading Darkness | There are always 4x Ritual Altars in maps with a Ritual | N/A |
| Between Two Worlds | Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp, which increases Tribute earned | Spreading Darkness |
| Ominous Portents | Rituals spawn monster waves 25% faster, but Favours are 50% more likely to contain an Omen | N/A |
| He Approaches | Revived monsters in Rituals have a 20% chance to be Magic or Rare. Rituals have a 50% chance to contain An Audience With The King | Ominous Portents |
| Tempting Offers | You may re-roll Favours in a Ritual an extra time, and it costs 25% less Tribute to re-roll | N/A |
Prioritize 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' for increased rewards. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for better Omen and 'An Audience With The King' chances.
PoE 2 Ritual Event Rewards
Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level Currencies to Rare gear and high-tier Currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is a Favour reward.
Omens, powerful items enhancing other Currency items, are possible Favour rewards. Examples include Omens of Annulment (specifying modifiers removed by Orbs of Annulment) and Omens of Alchemy (specifying modifiers added by Orbs of Alchemy). Omens are consumed upon use; consider trading less desirable ones.
Beyond Tribute and Favours, Rituals yield high-tier Currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
