Pikmin Bloom is getting ready to celebrate its 3.5th anniversary next month, and Niantic is bringing back some cherished retro elements to mark the occasion. The festivities kick off on May 1st, 2025, with a brand-new event running through May 31st, 2025.
A Nostalgic Journey Back to Nintendo’s Roots
This year’s anniversary update takes players on a delightful trip down memory lane with classic Nintendo console-inspired decor. Fans can look forward to seeing their Pikmin adorned with designs reminiscent of iconic gaming systems from the 1980s and 1990s. Additionally, a Playing Card (Clubs Suit) Decor Pikmin will join the lineup, paying homage to Nintendo’s early days as a playing card manufacturer before venturing into video games. The card designs are inspired by Nintendo’s original playing card decks.
Event Highlights
Throughout the month-long event, players can participate in special missions to earn random rewards such as Game Button Cells, seedlings that grow into Nintendo Consoles ‘80-‘95 Decor Pikmin, and flower petals. These rewards add a touch of nostalgia while enhancing gameplay.
Meanwhile, Brilliant Mushrooms will appear during the event. Breaking these mushrooms yields Mystery Boxes containing items like Game Button Cells, flower petals, and more. Nintendo Consoles ‘80-‘95 or Playing Card Decor Pikmin prove particularly effective against these mushrooms.
Floral Celebrations
In conjunction with the anniversary, the game introduces big flowers that can bloom into various types of flowers, including carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, or anniversary roses. Players can influence the outcome by planting red, yellow, white, or blue petals around the flowers.
Nectar enthusiasts will appreciate the update allowing fruit from mushrooms during May to yield nectar for regular flowers as well as special flowers like carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, and anniversary roses.

The event coincides with Community Day, encouraging players to download Pikmin Bloom from the Google Play Store and prepare for the exciting celebrations ahead.
