Akupara Games has been prolific lately, releasing several titles recently. We previously covered their deck-builder, Zoeti, and now turn our attention to their puzzle game, The Darkside Detective, and its sequel, The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (both available now!).
A Glimpse into The Darkside Detective
The game opens on a gloomy, fog-laden night in Twin Lakes, a city where the strange, eerie, and utterly absurd are commonplace. Our protagonists are Detective Francis McQueen and his endearingly clumsy partner, Officer Patrick Dooley.
Together, they form the Darkside Division, a perpetually underfunded branch of the Twin Lakes Police Department. You'll assist them in solving nine quirky cases, delving into the humorous and bizarre world of The Darkside Detective and its equally witty sequel.
These point-and-click adventures present a diverse range of challenges, from time-travel mysteries and tentacled horrors to uncovering carnival secrets and battling mafia zombies. See the trailer below for a taste of the action!
Ready to Investigate? -----------------------The game is a delightful homage to pop culture, referencing classic horror films, sci-fi shows, and buddy cop movies. The cases themselves boast intriguing titles: Malice in Wonderland, Tome Alone, Disorient Express, Police Farce, Don of the Dead, Buy Hard, and Baits Motel.
The game's humor is a standout feature, permeating every pixel. The Darkside Detective is available on the Google Play Store for $6.99. You can also jump straight into A Fumble in the Dark without playing the first game – it's also on Google Play.
