Pokémon GO Adds Morpeko and More, Hints at Dynamax and Gigantamax Coming to Game

Get ready for significant changes in Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has dropped hints suggesting the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, initially featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield. This exciting prospect follows the confirmed arrival of Morpeko, a Pokémon known for its form-changing abilities.

Galar Region Focus for the Upcoming Season?

Niantic's recent announcement confirms Morpeko's imminent arrival, sparking fan speculation about Dynamax and Gigantamax. These mechanics, unique to the Galar region, allow Pokémon to dramatically increase in size and power.

"Morpeko is charging into Pokémon GO, revolutionizing battles! Certain Pokémon, like Morpeko, will change forms during battles using Charged Attacks, opening up exciting new strategic possibilities," Niantic revealed. They further teased the new season with the promise of "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon."

While specifics remain under wraps, these "big" changes are expected to launch in September. The addition of Morpeko fuels speculation about other Galar Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash also joining the game, alongside these new mechanics.

The original games confined Dynamax and Gigantamax to Power Spots. Whether Pokémon GO will implement a similar system remains to be seen. With the Shared Skies season ending September 3rd, the prevailing theory points to the next season focusing on Galar Pokémon, further fueling anticipation. However, these are currently just speculations; official announcements will clarify the implementation details.
