Pokémon GO announced the arrival of Gigantamax Kingler on February 1st! Last year's highly anticipated Dynamax and Gigantamax update continues to expand, gradually adding more variants to the game. Gigantamax, a powerful Dynamax form, not only increases a Pokémon's size and strength but also alters its appearance and grants unique G-Max Moves. While the main series games feature 32 Gigantamax Pokémon, Pokémon GO currently boasts only six, with Gigantamax Lapras being the most recent addition. This will change with the upcoming event.
Gigantamax Kingler's debut will occur on February 1st during Max Battle Day. Running from 2 pm to 5 pm local time, this event introduces the Water-type Pokémon to six-star Max Battles, offering a chance to encounter a shiny version. Trainers can utilize Max Mushrooms—a controversial but effective item—to temporarily increase damage dealt by Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in these battles.

During the event, players can collect up to 1600 Max Particles, crucial for participating in Max Battles. All Power Spots will feature Gigantamax Battles, refreshing more frequently and yielding eight times the usual number of particles. From 12 am to 5 pm on February 1st, exploring will yield double Max Particles, requiring only a quarter of the normal walking distance. A $5 ticket offers a Max Mushroom, 25,000 XP, double Max Battle XP, and a boosted Max Particle collection limit of 5600. A $7.99 bundle containing six Max Particle packs will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store.
Max Battle Day is one of February's events, but not the only one. Niantic recently announced the Lunar New Year event (January 29th – February 1st). While Gigantamax Kingler won't appear during this event, other exciting activities await, including a Shadow Ho-Oh Shadow Raid Day on January 19th and the arrival of more Galar Pokémon in the coming days.
