Pokemon GO Reveals New Shadow Raid Day Plans

Pokemon GO enthusiasts, get ready for an electrifying event! On January 19, 2025, the game will host its first Shadow Raid Day of the year, spotlighting the formidable Fire-type Pokemon, Ho-Oh. This event promises an exciting opportunity for players to capture this legendary creature, which will appear in five-star raids from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. The anticipation is high, as this marks the return of a powerful critter to the augmented reality game, following the successful introduction of Shadow Raids in 2023.

During the Shadow Raid Day, players will have the chance to obtain up to seven free Raid Passes by spinning gyms, a significant boost to their raiding capabilities. Additionally, the event introduces the possibility of encountering a shiny Shadow Ho-Oh, adding an extra layer of excitement for collectors. Trainers can also use a Charged TM to teach Shadow Ho-Oh the potent Charged Attack Sacred Fire, which boasts 130 power in trainer battles and 120 power in raids and gyms.

To further enhance the experience, Niantic is offering a $5 ticket that increases the Raid Pass limit to 15. This ticket not only expands your raiding opportunities but also increases your chances of obtaining Rare Candy XL, crucial for powering up level 40 Pokemon. Furthermore, purchasing the ticket grants 50% more XP and 2x more Stardust from raid battles, with all these benefits lasting until 10 pm local time on January 19. For those looking for an extra edge, the Pokemon GO Web Store will offer an Ultra Ticket Box for $4.99, which includes the event ticket and a bonus Premium Battle Pass.

The year 2025 has kicked off with a flurry of activities for the Pokemon GO community. The recent Community Day featuring Sprigatito on January 5, and the ongoing opportunity to catch Fidough until January 7, are just the beginning. Players can also look forward to the Community Day Classic on January 25 and the Lunar New Year event, running from January 29 to February 2. With such a packed calendar, there's no shortage of reasons for trainers to stay engaged and excited about what's coming next in Pokemon GO.
