Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company's new subsidiary, Pokémon Works, will assume responsibility for Pokémon Sleep's development and future updates. This marks a shift from the game's original developer, Select Button.
From Select Button to Pokémon Works
Announced via an in-app notice on the Japanese version of Pokémon Sleep, the transition will see Pokémon Works gradually taking over development and operations from Select Button. The impact on the global version of the game is yet to be clarified, as the announcement isn't currently reflected in the global app's news section. Previously, development and operation were jointly handled by Select Button and The Pokémon Company.
Pokémon Works, established in March 2024, is a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Their representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, highlights the company's commitment to making Pokémon experiences more immersive and enjoyable. The company's location in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is shared with ILCA, known for its work on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and as a co-developer of Pokémon HOME. Pokémon Works' past contributions include involvement in Pokémon HOME's development.
While the specific plans for Pokémon Sleep's future under Pokémon Works remain undisclosed, the company aims to enhance the Pokémon experience, allowing players to connect with and adventure alongside Pokémon in new and engaging ways. The details of this vision's implementation in Pokémon Sleep are eagerly awaited.
