Best Decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Deck building is crucial, even in a casual game. Here are the top-performing decks:

S-Tier Decks

Gyarados Ex/Greninja Combo: This deck utilizes a synergistic approach. Druddigon (x2), with its 100 HP, acts as a sturdy defender and inflicts chip damage without energy. Simultaneously, Greninja (x2) delivers additional chip damage and serves as a secondary attacker. Finally, Gyarados Ex (x2) finishes off opponents weakened by the chip damage. Supporting cards include Froakie (x2), Frogadier (x2), Magikarp (x2), Misty (x2), Leaf (x2), Professor’s Research (x2), and Poke Ball (x2).

Pikachu Ex: Currently the dominant deck, Pikachu Ex (x2) delivers consistent 90 damage with only two Energy. Its aggressive and fast-paced strategy makes it highly effective. Supporting cards include Zapdos Ex (x2), Blitzle (x2), Zebstrika (x2), Poke Ball (x2), Potion (x2), X Speed (x2), Professor’s Research (x2), Sabrina (x2), and Giovanni (x2). Optional additions like Voltorb and Electrode provide further attack options and strategic retreat capabilities.

Raichu Surge: While slightly less consistent than the pure Pikachu Ex deck, Raichu and Lt. Surge offer surprising bursts of power. Pikachu Ex (x2), Pikachu (x2), Raichu (x2), and Zapdos Ex (x2) form the core attack force. Supporting cards include Potion (x2), X Speed (x2), Poke Ball (x2), Professor’s Research (x2), Sabrina (x2), and Lt. Surge (x2). Energy discarding from Raichu is mitigated by Lt. Surge.

A-Tier Decks

Celebi Ex and Serperior Combo: The Mythical Island expansion boosted Grass-type decks. Celebi Ex (x2) and Serperior (x2) are the key cards. Serperior's Jungle Totem ability doubles Grass Pokémon energy, amplified by Celebi Ex's coin flips for high damage potential. Dhelmise (x2) provides an alternative attacker. Supporting cards include Snivy (x2), Servine (x2), Erika (x2), Professor’s Research (x2), Poke Ball (x2), X Speed (x2), Potion (x2), and Sabrina (x2). Vulnerable to Fire-type decks.

Koga Poison: This deck focuses on poisoning opponents and then capitalizing with Scolipede's high damage against poisoned Pokémon. Weezing and Whirlipede inflict poison, while Koga facilitates their deployment. Leaf offers retreat cost reduction. Tauros serves as a powerful finisher against Ex decks. Supporting cards include Venipede (x2), Whirlipede (x2), Scolipede (x2), Koffing (x2), Weezing (x2), Tauros, Poke Ball (x2), Koga (x2), Sabrina, and Leaf (x2). Effective against Mewtwo Ex.

Mewtwo Ex/Gardevoir Combo: This deck relies on Mewtwo Ex (x2) supported by Gardevoir. Rapid evolution of Ralts and Kirlia to Gardevoir is crucial to power up Mewtwo Ex's Psydrive. Jynx acts as a stalling attacker. Supporting cards include Ralts (x2), Kirlia (x2), Gardevoir (x2), Jynx (x2), Potion (x2), X Speed (x2), Poke Ball (x2), Professor’s Research (x2), Sabrina (x2), and Giovanni (x2).

B-Tier Decks

Charizard Ex: This deck boasts Charizard Ex (x2)'s high damage output, but its reliance on specific draws makes it inconsistent. Moltres Ex (x2) assists in early energy building. Supporting cards include Charmander (x2), Charmeleon (x2), Moltres Ex (x2), Potion (x2), X Speed (x2), Poke Ball (x2), Professor’s Research (x2), Sabrina (x2), and Giovanni (x2).

Colorless Pidgeot: This deck uses basic Pokémon for consistent value. Rattata and Raticate provide early game damage, while Pidgeot's ability disrupts opponents. Supporting cards include Pidgey (x2), Pidgeotto (x2), Pidgeot, Poke Ball (x2), Professor’s Research (x2), Red Card, Sabrina, Potion (x2), Rattata (x2), Raticate (x2), Kangaskhan, and Farfetch’d (x2).

This tier list provides a snapshot of the current Pokémon TCG Pocket meta. The game is evolving, so strategies and deck effectiveness may change over time.
