The newly released Ratatan gameplay trailer provides an exciting sneak peek into the heart of the game, showcasing a thrilling battle against a giant boss crab. Developed by Ratatan Works, this trailer was a highlight of IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025.

The trailer emphasizes Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, seamlessly integrating rhythm gaming with side-scrolling action. A standout feature is the online co-op mode, which supports up to 4 players, promising a collaborative gaming experience. Additionally, players can command up to 100 characters in expansive melee battles, adding depth and excitement to the gameplay.

Ratatan is crafted by the original Patapon creator, Hiroyuki Kotani, and features music by the renowned Patapon musician Kemmei Adachi. Launched on Kickstarter in 2023, the campaign successfully reached its console launch stretch goal, ensuring a release across multiple platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

According to updates on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan is gearing up for a closed beta test starting February 27, 2025. Kazuto Sakajiri, the game's producer, shared insights into the game's milestones and the upcoming closed beta.

Sakajiri proudly announced that Ratatan has now surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on their Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, the game will not participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the team is focusing on perfecting the closed beta. Their sights are set on delivering an enhanced demo for the Steam Next Festival in June.

During the closed beta, players can expect to play through Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively over the month-long test period. Sakajiri also noted that details regarding code distribution, start dates, and times will be communicated through Discord and X once confirmed.

Ratatan is slated for a 2025 release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While specific release dates have not yet been announced, the anticipation continues to build among fans eager to dive into this rhythmic adventure.
