Former developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 at Rebel Wolves have introduced their new project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not aiming for the full AAA scope, the team at Rebel Wolves is driven by high aspirations. The studio's founder, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, has expressed their goal to achieve a quality akin to The Witcher 3, albeit on a more modest scale:
“We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that’s our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we’re creating something more compact yet just as polished.”
The Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to offer a comprehensive experience, taking around 30-40 hours to complete:
“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, which was meant to last 100+ hours but often exceeded 200-300 hours, is crazy. But is size what makes a game AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale really matter?”
Tomaszkiewicz also questioned the relevance of industry classifications such as "AAA" and "AAAA," suggesting they hold little meaning.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG where players control a half-vampire protagonist racing against time to save his loved ones within 30 days and 30 nights. Despite the time constraint, the game promises a seamless experience. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, it will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
