Pokemon Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon
The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new benchmark for the longest unboxing livestream. On November 26th, 2024, a 24-hour marathon unboxing event celebrated the launch of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
This record-breaking feat involved popular online personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, who collectively opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products. The impressive result? More than 20,000 cards! This achievement was confirmed by the Pokémon Company's official press release.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The event isn't over yet! The Pokémon Company promises further giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. All cards collected will be organized and donated to charities before the holidays, including Barnardo's in the UK.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Expansion Details
Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, the central location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's The Indigo Disk DLC. The expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.
Fans can also find iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. Tropical-themed Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards, featuring Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, add a relaxing touch. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, bolster players' deck options.
The expansion is also available digitally through the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
