A former employee of Respawn Entertainment recently disclosed on her LinkedIn profile that the studio has abruptly halted the development of a new game this week. Despite years of work on the project, no clear reasons were provided for this sudden decision. This news comes after journalist Jeff Grubb reported last year that the game was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn had assembled an "experimental team" for this project, comprised of experts in multiplayer shooter development.
This isn't the first time Respawn has canceled a project; last year, they also shut down an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall series, which debuted in 2014, has earned a dedicated fanbase due to its innovative gameplay that seamlessly integrates action, mech piloting, and parkour with dynamic team battles. Players can engage in combat either as agile pilots or as formidable Titans.
Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other ventures. They are actively developing the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and are collaborating with Bit Reactor on a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe. These projects reflect Respawn's ongoing commitment to exploring diverse gaming experiences.
