It's one of those years where we find ourselves repeating a bit! That's because there's a lot of reworking and rearranging happening. Case in point: we now finally have a release date for the much-anticipated narrative, time-based point-and-click game, Reviver!
We've covered Reviver several times over the past few months, initially to announce its upcoming release and later to explore its listings. Now, it seems that developer CottonGame will just about meet their proposed winter release window, as Reviver is set to hit storefronts on January 21st, according to its iOS listing.
Reviver presents an intriguing narrative romance where you take on the role of a butterfly, sort of. You witness the lives of two star-crossed lovers destined never to come together. By making tiny changes, you'll witness the seismic effects your actions have in averting their destiny, finally bringing them together as you observe the world from a single room.
With a flap of a butterfly's wingsNow, I'm not under the impression that Reviver will be a groundbreaking piece of art that'll revolutionize mobile gaming. However, I do believe it's definitely worth checking out when it releases, given its original concept, which feels fresh and unique.
The idea of conveying the story of these two individuals solely through items you pick up, read, and examine in one room is highly experimental. This approach might put off some players, but if executed well and proves to be evocative, it could resonate just as much, if not more, than other more melodramatic entries in the genre.
Perhaps Reviver will make it onto our list of the best mobile games of 2025 (so far)? You'll just have to wait and see!
