In an exciting crossover event, Sea of Thieves, a popular Microsoft game, is embracing elements from Sony's Destiny 2. The Lightbearer cosmetics set introduces a range of new items inspired by the Destiny universe, allowing players to bring the battle against the Darkness to the high seas. This set includes new flags, ship cosmetics, and a costume set, among other items. In the trailer showcasing these new additions, keen-eyed fans can spot various nods to Destiny, including the Drifter's iconic outfit and a ghost hanging off the front of a ship. The Pirate Emporium is stocked with a variety of options for players eager to deck out their ships and sailors with these unique Destiny-inspired cosmetics.

Sea of Thieves made a splash on the PlayStation last year, marking one of several Microsoft properties that have ventured onto Sony's console. Meanwhile, Destiny has remained a staple on Xbox platforms, even after Bungie's acquisition by Sony. This crossover may blur traditional console boundaries, but it's a delightful blend, with the Drifter's outfit particularly fitting into the swashbuckling world of Sea of Thieves.

Season 15 of Sea of Thieves has recently launched, bringing with it a host of new encounters, voyages, and content to enhance the ongoing piracy experience. Rare's game has not only stayed afloat but thrived, even achieving top spots on EU sales charts upon its PlayStation 5 release.

On the other side, Destiny 2 has rolled out the Heresy update and continues to evolve following the narrative climax of The Final Shape. The space-faring shooter has also engaged in other notable crossovers, such as with Star Wars.

Both Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2 have successfully navigated the challenging waters of live-service game development. This crossover is a testament to their enduring appeal and adaptability. The Destiny 2-inspired cosmetics are now available in Sea of Thieves, and while it's unclear if Destiny 2 will receive any Sea of Thieves content in return, the idea of a pirate ship sailing through space is certainly an intriguing one to consider.
