SoMoGa Inc. has unleashed a revitalized version of Vay on Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG returns with enhanced visuals, a modernized user interface, and controller support.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized by Working Designs), Vay received an iOS re-release in 2008 courtesy of SoMoGa. This latest iteration builds upon that legacy.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
The revamped Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen formidable bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is its adjustable difficulty settings, catering to various player preferences.
Convenience is improved with an auto-save function, eliminating frustration. Bluetooth controller support offers flexible gameplay options. Players can acquire new equipment and items, unlock spells through character leveling, and utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war, Vay unfolds on a technologically underdeveloped planet after a catastrophic machine crash-lands. This machine, designed for destruction, wreaks havoc until the player intervenes.
The player's quest centers on rescuing their kidnapped wife, a mission that potentially extends to saving the world. Their wedding day is disrupted by an attack, triggering an epic journey to thwart the war machines.
Vay's narrative seamlessly blends nostalgia and innovation, retaining its JRPG roots with experience and gold acquisition through random encounters. Approximately ten minutes of animated cutscenes are included, with both English and Japanese audio options.
