Sonic Rumble gets delayed as Sega readies another update

Author : Mila May 06,2025

Despite an exciting pre-launch crossover event featuring iconic Sega titles like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast, fans of Sonic Rumble will have to wait a bit longer for its global debut. The much-anticipated multiplayer battle royale game, which boasted over 1.4 million pre-registrations, has been delayed by Sega.

The delay coincides with the preparation of Sonic Rumble's version 1.2 update, which is set to introduce a host of new features to Dr. Eggman's toybox world. This update will include Rumble Rankings, allowing players to climb seasonal leaderboards and earn rewards, Crews for cooperative score missions with friends, and a new Skills system that adds strategic depth with character-specific powers.

Instead of releasing these updates mid-launch, Sega has chosen to delay the game to ensure these new elements are polished and ready. Fans can look forward to a Q&A session on May 2nd on Discord, where they can get the latest updates and ask any burning questions about the game.
