The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the eagerly awaited Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the current state of affairs in their trademark, barely-coping style.
The beloved animated series cleverly unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming season, initially tricking viewers into thinking it was a dramatic sneak peek for a new drama series. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music set an ominous tone... until Randy and Shelley, Stan's dad and sister, appear on screen. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, asks her if she's been taking drugs, saying, "Because I think it could really help you."
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. Following the gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and timely events expected in the new season. These include multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, an appearance by P. Diddy, and what appears to be yet another war with Canada. For long-time fans of the show, or even those who've seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, the latter shouldn't come as a surprise.
The teaser confirms that Season 27 will air on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having first premiered on Comedy Central to immediate acclaim back in 1997.
