Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Star Hasn't Recorded His Lines Yet

Author : Noah Apr 23,2025

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" will have to exercise patience, as star Jharrel Jerome has confirmed that production on the anticipated third film is still in the planning stages. In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome revealed that he hasn't even recorded any lines yet, indicating that the project is far from completion. "No, I wish," Jerome stated when asked about the start of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

Given that "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" was released five years after the first film in 2023, it's no surprise that the third installment isn't expected to hit theaters anytime soon. Industry reports suggest a potential release date of 2026 at the earliest, though following the pattern of the previous film's release schedule, it might not arrive until 2028.

While Jerome's role in "Across the Spider-Verse" was relatively minor, he is set to take on a more significant part in "Beyond the Spider-Verse." Spoiler alert for the finale of "Across the Spider-Verse": Jerome will portray the main antagonist, Miles G. Morales from Earth-42. This version of Miles did not become Spider-Man due to a twist of fate where the radioactive spider meant for him ended up in the reality of the series' protagonist, biting him instead. As a result, Miles G. Morales turned into the Prowler after his universe's Peter Parker died, leading to a New York ruled by supervillains.

The narrative of how this alternate Miles clashes with the main Miles, who did become Spider-Man, is expected to be a central focus of "Beyond the Spider-Verse." However, fans will need to wait patiently as the film's production continues to take shape.
