Top Spring 2025 Anime Recommendations
I've highlighted The Apothecary Diaries, Once Upon A Witch’s Death, The Beginning After The End, To Be Hero X, and WITCH WATCH as standout series in the Spring 2025 anime dubs coming to Crunchyroll. However, there are several other gems worth adding to your watch list from the above lineup.
Devil May Cry is Netflix's latest foray into animated video game adaptations. With a trailer featuring Limp Bizkit and a new Evanescence track, it's clear the creators are aiming for a specific vibe. Netflix has had mixed results with anime and game IPs, ranging from hits like Castlevania, Arcane, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners to misses like Tekken: Bloodline and Dragon’s Dogma. Yet, with creator Adi Shankar's track record with Castlevania, Guardians of Justice, and Captain Laserhawk, and Studio Mir's work on Avatar: The Last Airbender and Korra, Devil May Cry promises to be a thrilling experience. Even if you're not familiar with the game, fans of Trigun will appreciate Dante's edgy adventures.
In Moonrise, the moon fights for independence, a concept that could have been a sequel to 2021's Moonfall. This ONA boasts impressive talent with animation by WIT Studio (Attack On Titan, Vinland Saga), character designs by Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist), and direction by Masashi Koizuka (Attack On Titan Seasons 2 & 3). Despite the secrecy surrounding the plot, originally set for a 2024 release, Moonrise is poised to be a standout series.
For those unfamiliar with YAIBA, this samurai comedy series by Gosho Aoyama, famous for Case Closed, has maintained a dedicated following since its late 1980s debut. YAIBA: Samurai Legends marks the second anime adaptation after its initial run in the early '90s, and with Aoyama's involvement in production, it's a must-watch for fans of Detective Conan and the early, comedic style of Dragon Ball, complete with historical cameos.
