Squad Busters is undergoing significant changes, most notably the elimination of Win Streaks. This means the endless climb for consecutive victory rewards is coming to an end. However, this isn't the only update.
Why the Win Streak Removal and When?
The Win Streak system is being removed because, instead of fostering a sense of accomplishment, it created undue pressure and frustration for many players. The feature will be gone starting December 16th. Your highest win streak will remain on your profile as a record of your past achievements.
As compensation for this change, players who reach certain win streak milestones (0-9, 10, 25, 50, and 100) before December 16th will receive exclusive emotes.
Unfortunately, there will be no refunds for coins spent on win streaks. The developers cite maintaining game balance between free-to-play and paying players as the reason. Refunds, they argue, would disrupt the economy, particularly regarding the acquisition of characters from Reward Chests.
Player reaction to this change is mixed. Some welcome the reduced emphasis on pay-to-win mechanics, while others are less enthusiastic about the removal and the perceived inadequacy of the compensation.
