Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'

Saber Interactive has reaffirmed that all of its previously announced games are still actively in development, despite the lack of updates on high-profile projects like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. In a recent statement, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to social media to reassure fans that the studio is diligently working on numerous titles across various genres.

"Saber Interactive stands as one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits stated. "We are committed to multiple projects, and everything we've announced remains in development. We'll share more details on our upcoming games as soon as we have exciting news to reveal."

The KOTOR remake, a project that has captured the imagination of gamers since its announcement in 2021, stands out as a prime example of Willits' statement. Despite changing developers and facing numerous setbacks, the game remains a priority for Saber Interactive. In April 2024, Saber Interactive's CEO, Matthew Karch, confirmed that the KOTOR project was still very much alive and had transitioned with the studio following its split from Embracer Group.

"It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch emphasized at the time. "The game has been mentioned in the press repeatedly. What I can assure you is that the game is alive and well, and we are dedicated to surpassing consumer expectations."

Willits' recent statement, nearly a year after Karch's comments, further solidifies the studio's commitment to the KOTOR remake. However, beyond the initial announcement video, fans are still awaiting concrete updates on the project's progress.

In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive is also working on several other titles. John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for release in 2025, though specific dates have yet to be announced. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled project based on Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The latest addition to Saber's lineup is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3. For more details on what to expect from this game, including potential chapters and enemy factions, be sure to check out IGN's comprehensive article.
