HoYoverse has unveiled an exciting new update for *Tears of Themis* titled "Ballad of the Dunes," which marks a unique collaboration with the Culture & Tourism of Gansu Province. This crossover event merges the allure of detective gameplay with the cultural richness of Dunhuang, a city on the edge of the Gobi Desert, known for its historical significance along the ancient Silk Road.
What Does Ballad of the Dunes Bring to Tears of Themis?
The "Ballad of the Dunes" event enriches *Tears of Themis* with a tapestry of history, romance, and mystery set against the timeless backdrop of the Silk Road. Players will immerse themselves in solving mysteries amidst the ancient and vibrant culture of Dunhuang.
This update introduces four new MR (Memory Resonance) cards, each highlighting a character from the game—Luke, Artem, Vyn, and Marius. These cards are uniquely designed to reflect elements of Dunhuang's heritage, featuring flying apsaras, detailed murals, and the traditional pipa played in a style reminiscent of the Mogao Caves' ancient performers. The Silk Road, a historical conduit of art, culture, and trade since the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC–8 AD), is beautifully reimagined in this digital experience.
Each card narrates a distinct story: Luke's "In the Footsteps of Silk," Artem's "Serenade of the Soul," Vyn's "Reverberation Through Time," and Marius's "Void of Creation." These cards not only enhance gameplay but also include Private Messages that delve into a thousand-year journey, enriching the narrative depth of the event.
What Are the Rewards?
From February 13th to February 20th, 2025, players can earn Camel Bells, S-Chips, and various other rewards by completing event tasks. The event features a game board where players flip cells to discover hidden prizes, making it both challenging and rewarding.
The pinnacle reward for the "Ballad of the Dunes" event is the set of Ballad of the Dunes MR cards. Participants can choose one of the four MR cards as their final reward in each round. Those who successfully flip 100 cells will unlock the exclusive "Celebration – Dunes Namecard."
