Tides of Annihilation, drawing inspiration from Arthurian legend, casts players as Gwendolyn, a young woman battling alongside spectral knights to rescue her family and mend a fractured world.
The game unfolds in a ravaged, modern-day London, overrun by a mysterious otherworldly invasion. Gwendolyn and her team confront relentless enemy hordes in the game's battle-filled streets. Massive, roaming knights form the game's primary antagonists, requiring players to scale and engage in intense combat atop these colossal foes.
While visually impressive, Tides of Annihilation suffers from a lack of originality in its narrative. Recent soulslike titles have successfully reimagined classic tales, such as the relatively unknown "Journey to the West" and the surprisingly twisted "Pinocchio" in Lies of P. However, the King Arthur narrative feels overused and familiar. Despite its visual appeal, the game unfortunately lacks a compelling, unique selling point.
