Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has confirmed! While her arrival has been widely anticipated, the developer has now officially announced the addition of this gaming legend to the Survivor roster. Following the recent addition of Vecna (Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons), Dead by Daylight continues to expand its roster with beloved characters. Previous additions include Chucky and Alan Wake, and now Lara Croft, originally created by Toby Gard for the 1996 Core Design title, takes center stage.
Dead by Daylight: Lara Croft will launch on all platforms July 16th, with early access for PC players via a Steam public test build. While an official trailer is yet to be released, PC players will be the first to experience Lara's in-game skills and perks firsthand. Behaviour Interactive is billing her as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of navigating perilous adventures. Her in-game model will be based on the 2013 Survivor trilogy reboot.
Lara Croft's Arrival in Dead by Daylight – July 16th
The Lara Croft announcement was part of a larger Dead by Daylight 8th-anniversary livestream, which also revealed several other exciting additions: a new 2v8 mode (two Killers versus eight Survivors), a Frank Stone spin-off developed by Supermassive Games (The Quarry), and a new Castlevania chapter slated for later this year.
This year has seen a renewed interest in Lara Croft, with Aspyr releasing a remastered collection of the original Tomb Raider trilogy (Tomb Raider 1-3). Additionally, Tomb Raider: Legend received a PS5 port (though reception has been mixed). Further fueling Lara Croft's resurgence is an upcoming animated TV series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, premiering in October 2024, with Hayley Atwell (MCU's Peggy Carter) providing Lara's voice.
