If you're yearning for a return to Tony Hawk's Underground, you're not alone — Tony Hawk himself is also "campaigning" for a remake.
"I always have aspirations," Hawk told ScreenRant. "It's generally not up to me. I'll advocate as much as I can, but I'm working with a much larger company that has greater insight."
When asked if Activision had hinted at what might come after Pro Skater 3 + 4 is released, Hawk remained cautious, replying: "We haven't even launched this game [yet]!"
Tony Hawk's Underground originally launched in 2003 and received an impressive 9.2 review score from us at the time, praised for its "virtually flawless" level design and "stellar gameplay." For the first time in the series, it allowed players to step off their skateboards and explore the expansive environments on foot.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One on July 11, 2025. Activision is curating the official THPS 3 + 4 playlist on Spotify and updating it regularly as more songs are announced — stay updated with our complete soundtrack list here.
"In an era where it feels like every early 2000s game is getting a modern update, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is shaping up to be a welcome addition to a year filled with outstanding remakes and remasters," we noted in IGN's first impressions preview of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.
"From its faithful recreation of what made the PS2-era classics unforgettable, to modern quality-of-life enhancements, an excellent soundtrack, and its overall homage to the series' early years, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is definitely worth keeping an eye on — whether you're a skateboarding fan, enjoy action sports games, or just want a fun and straightforward experience. It might just be the smoothest kickflip you land all year."
