Umamusume: Pretty Derby is galloping toward its worldwide English debut, bringing its distinctive horse girl racing experience to global audiences. Cygames announced via Twitter (X) on April 27 that the game will launch on June 26, 2025, with pre-registrations opening April 28.
Originally launched exclusively in Japan on February 24, 2021 for iOS, Android, and PC, the game features a creative premise where legendary racehorses are reincarnated as "horse girls" (Umamusume) - high school girls with equine ears, tails, and athletic abilities. These characters train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy, pursuing dual dreams of racing glory and idol stardom.
According to the Steam page description, players will "scout talented trainees and supporters while experiencing an immersive sports simulation featuring advanced training systems and high-quality 3D graphics." The game includes a gacha system with over 20 unique Umamusume characters to collect, train, and compete with in races and performances.
Mobile gaming publication PocketGamer.biz reported in March 2025 that the Japanese version surpassed $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within just four years, nearly reaching $1 billion in its 2021 launch year. Cygames aims to replicate this success internationally with the English release.
Pre-Registration Now Available
Cygames revealed on April 28 that pre-registration is now open, offering players valuable launch bonuses including:
