Hyper Light Breaker offers a rich selection of characters, each bringing their own unique flair and combat style to the battle against the Abyss King. Whether you prefer sniping from afar or engaging in close-quarters combat, there's a Breaker for every playstyle.
Unlocking new characters in Hyper Light Breaker is straightforward yet shrouded in mystery for new players. This guide will walk you through the process of obtaining new Breakers and provide an overview of the characters available in the early access version of the game. We'll keep this guide updated as more characters become unlockable.
How to Get New Characters in Hyper Light Breaker
To unlock new characters, you'll need to collect Abyss Stones, which are dropped exclusively by the Crowns, the game's bosses. Before you can face these bosses, you must first gather Prisms, which serve as keys to the boss arenas. You can locate Prisms by following the golden diamond icon on the map.
After defeating a Crown, return to the teleporter at the Cursed Outpost and select the Breaker you wish to unlock. Use your Abyss Stones to unlock the character, making them available for play. While there are nine characters in total, only two can be unlocked in the early access version. The unlocking method for future characters remains to be seen.
All Characters in Hyper Light Breaker
Each character in Hyper Light Breaker comes equipped with a SyCom, a pivotal item that sets their base stats and core perk, shaping their unique playstyle. Here's a detailed look at each character and their combat approaches:
Vermillion
Vermillion is your starting character, equipped with the Gunslinger SyCom, which enhances his ranged combat capabilities. His Rail shots gain a guaranteed crit after a critical hit, making him a formidable long-range fighter. For those who favor melee combat, the unlockable Tank SyCom offers increased armor upon perfect parries, along with better defensive and melee stats, providing a safer combat option.
Lapis
Lapis starts with the Lightweaver SyCom, boosting Rail shot damage after picking up a Battery. What sets her apart is the Warrior SyCom, which increases her core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful over time. Lapis excels with both SyComs, but the Warrior's potential for growth makes her a top choice for players looking to dominate with raw stats.
Goro
Goro focuses on ranged combat, starting with the Astrologer SyCom, which speeds up his Blade skill charging while shooting. The unlockable Sniper SyCom enhances his critical hit rate, making him a true glass cannon. While Goro lacks defensive options, his high damage output rewards skilled players who can master his playstyle, turning him into an effective combatant.
