Beloved Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has issued a heartfelt message following a near-fatal incident. Last week, he was found "barely alive" in his Atlanta hotel room.
A video posted on his GoFundMe page, which has already raised an impressive $174,653 for medical expenses, reveals that Johnson was in a coma. He expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of support: "I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you."
Johnson, also a Washington Capitals announcer, was in Atlanta for a National Alzheimer's Foundation benefit event. His absence triggered concern, leading his wife, Kim Johnson, to contact the hotel. Security personnel and EMTs found him with a barely detectable pulse.
"Rumors of my demise were not exaggerated. It was very close," Johnson shared in the video. He credited his wife's quick thinking and the actions of his son, friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, and the swift response of medical professionals for saving his life. He spent five days in a medically induced coma.
Johnson extended his thanks to the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family, Ted Leonsis (chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company) for a generous $25,000 donation, and Bethesda for their public show of support. He expressed his deep appreciation for the fans, both those who donated and those who offered their encouragement. "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," he affirmed.
While recovery will take time, Johnson remains optimistic: "It's going to be a while, but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and hearing you all then."
Johnson's extensive voice acting career encompasses film, television, and video games, with a significant body of work for Bethesda. His recent roles include Ron Hope in Starfield. Previous Bethesda credits include Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance (Oblivion), three Daedric Princes (Morrowind), Fawkes and Maister Burke (Fallout 3), Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II (Skyrim), and Moe Cronin (Fallout 4), among many others.
