Get ready for more thrills and chills as The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 gears up for its premiere on May 4, 2025. This exciting news was exclusively revealed at IGN Fan Fest 2025, accompanied by an exclusive clip and in-depth interviews with Scott Gimple, the chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe, along with Maggie actor Lauren Cohen and Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan during Day 2 of the event.
Lauren Cohen shed light on Maggie's mental state heading into Season 2. "Sadly not everything is quite as rosy as it could be or seems or one would hope," Cohen shared. She elaborated on the challenges Maggie faces, not just in the apocalyptic world, but also in navigating the complexities of family life with her son and the teenager she's caring for, Ginny. "And so there are very relatable domestic dynamics that are playing out as we come back in Season 2, on top of this apocalyptic world and trying to eat and stay safe and sleep. That’s where we find ourselves before another big bad thing happens."
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, discussed his character's journey from being despised to becoming a fan-favorite. "We find Negan very much under the thumb of The Dama and The Croat, and on some ground he’s not real familiar with," he said. Morgan explained that Negan is struggling at the beginning of the season, always scheming to regain control but finding himself in a difficult spot. He also reminisced about Negan's iconic weapon, the baseball bat named Lucille, saying, "The Lucille of it all, what can I say? I love that thing! But I as an actor, that’s the only prop I’ve ever had my whole life I enjoy carrying around with me. It brought back very fond memories for me. Not for Lauren!"
Scott Gimple provided insights into the upcoming season's conflict, noting, "There is no single big bad. There’s a lot of shifting as far as the power ranking for this season. It isn’t all antagonistic. It’s a little more complex like that. It’s a little more political. And then we get kinda physical."
