Warzone Lobby Crashes Disrupting Gameplay

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still in development, developers Raven Software have implemented a temporary solution.

This follows a period of reported issues including server outages and ongoing problems with cheating and bugs. The recent loading screen crashes, reported on January 6th, prompted an investigation. Although the root cause remains unaddressed (as indicated on the Trello bug tracker), a January 9th Twitter announcement confirmed the temporary suspension of Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches.

This addresses player frustration over unwarranted penalties stemming from the glitch. The temporary fix prevents penalties for involuntary disconnections at the start of a match, but penalties will remain for players leaving mid-match.

While this mitigates the immediate impact, the underlying bug persists, even after a major update in early January 2025. The continued presence of bugs and disruptions to Ranked play remain a concern for players. Raven Software is actively working on resolving these issues.
