Warner Bros. Discovery Confirms Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
During Bank of America's 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed development plans for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. The original game, a Harry Potter-themed action RPG, has sold over 24 million copies since its release. As reported by Variety, Wiedenfels stated that, "A successor to Hogwarts Legacy is a top priority for us in the next couple of years. We anticipate significant growth from our games division based on this."
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad spoke to Variety, highlighting the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success. "Many players have revisited the game multiple times," Haddad noted. He emphasized that the game's success extends beyond sales figures, stating, "It brought Harry Potter to life in a fresh, engaging way for gamers, allowing them to truly immerse themselves in the world and story." This immersive quality, Haddad believes, is what resonated so strongly with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts, a position typically held by established franchise sequels.
Game8 was particularly impressed by the game's stunning visuals, calling it the most breathtaking visual experience a Harry Potter fan could hope for. For our full review of Hogwarts Legacy, please follow the link below.
